As a Professional Organizer by trade, I value any service or product that can maximize time and efficiency. And as a seafood blogger, I prefer if it somehow involves fish.
Today there is a plethora of Meal Preparation Companies out there to make it easier for families to put a home cooked meal on the table, without losing their minds. But the challenge is to make these meals, healthy, tasty and with the least amount of preparation needed. It also has to be the type of meal that appeals to all members of the family, especially with all the dietary restrictions people have these days including pescetarianism.
This month I am partnering with some of the popular meal prep companies to review some of their seafood items. My fellow pescetarians, you’ll have to look no further because I’m going to help make your life easier while ensuring that you get your fish intake!
Madison & Rayne: The Shrimp In Carrot Romesco Sauce is one of my favorites from Madison & Rayne. The romesco is a nut and red pepper based creamy Spanish sauce, originally meant to be eaten with fish. And let me assure you, it couldn’t have been more perfect with anything else but the shrimp. The shrimp absorbed the flavors of the sauce perfectly and the romesco was entirely flavorful and aromatic. The portion is big but I didn’t have leftovers, so that should explain how much I loved and how well devoured this dish. For my readers, you can use the code CP40 to get $40 off your first order at www.madisonandrayne.com.
Blue Apron: My next pick is Blue Apron’s Crispy Catfish & Yuzu-Kosho Udon with Snow Peas. Wow, what a fabulous combination of the zesty yuzu (Asian sour fruit), spice from the chili peppers and citrusy punch of the ponzu sauce creating a flavorful broth for the udon noodles. The pan-seared fillets of catfish added just the right texture of mild crunch to the soup. A beautiful looking dish too that will make you forget you’re eating at home. I was impressed also because of the company’s commitment to sustainable seafood, which is a topic dear to my heart. Blue Apron recently partnered with Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch Program in an effort to provide only sustainably caught seafood to home chefs across the U.S. The quality of the fish speaks for itself and I urge you to try it. Meez Meals: That brings me to Meez Meals, whose Salmon Al Sugo Bianco absolutely blew me away. The meal was cooked fast because Meez sends everything pre-chopped and pre-measured, which saves a lot of time. This classic Italian dish was nicely simplified without compromising on its taste. The food bag came with two large fillets of responsibly fished salmon along with other fresh ingredients. The fish was fresh and soft, and the final product was the tenderest salmon cooked in a delectable cream and white wine sauce, with sautéed mushrooms and whole-grain linguine. Mouthwatering and filling! I usually grill or bake salmon, so I really enjoyed learning how to pan fry the fish with the flour coating. An elegant looking dish that tastes even better than it looks. I definitely ate fancy with my Meez meal and got my pescetarian fill. For my readers, Meez is offering my readers one free dinner for two if you use the code: CHIPESCETARIAN at http://meezmeals.com. Must be a first time client of course!
No matter which company you go with, I can assure you it will change your life for the better. You’ll definitely eat lavish yet healthy meals, as well as enjoy the process of cooking at home. I hope you take advantage of these offers and relish as much as I did!
