And The Winner Is....Tuna Tartare!

Lux Bar recently celebrated their ten-year anniversary, and I got to celebrate with them! On the outside, Lux Bar seems like your regular neighborhood bar, but it’s so much more than that! And this event confirmed why they’ve made it a decade, while several others in the Gold Coast haven’t. The restaurant atmosphere is such that you can make it a casual experience or a fancy affair. 

At the anniversary kick-off  event, I got to try several of their signature food and drink items, from the Moscow Mules to the truffle fries. You can tell that all of the items have been refined for years until perfection!

Naturally, I headed straight to the wide array of endless shrimp cocktail! But the item that hit the spot for me was the Ahi Tuna Tartare! I’ll be honest, it came as bit of a shocker that Lux Bar is where I found my favorite tuna tartare in the city. But it’s true!

The tuna was so fresh, perfectly seasoned in a jalapeno, lime & mint dressing with tiny pieces of avocado, cradled in mini popodum scoops! While the Indian in me likes to see more Indian foods integrated in Western cuisine, the combination of the black gram flour lentil crackers with the tuna was truly marvelous!

I was also excited to learn that newly appointed Chef Michael Shrader is taking on Lux Bar’s mission of using locally sourced ingredients, by partnering with Gotham Greens  (a regional produce company). That makes me happy!

And…to further commemorate their ten-year anniversary, Lux Bar is offering a 10-10-10 menu! Beginning October 10th, guests can choose from ten drinks & ten menu items that will be priced for $10. For my fellow fish lovers, the food menu will include New England Clam Strips, Popcorn Shrimp, Sweet Chili Fried Calamari and Great Lakes White Fish. So get over there soon!
